We welcome delegation visit by Peter Stoutjesdijk, Director and Mr Alexander B, Science Officer Aquatics Animal Biosecurity, Mr Zahari, Mr Hafiz and colleagues from Department of Fisheries Malaysia.

Fruitful discussion on various technical matters and update on steps implemented (and will be implemented) by the Australian government to monitor import of uncooked shrimps into Australia.

They visited our laboratory to observe method and facility design.

New PCR Testing Service
(Enteric Redmouth Disease)

We are pleased to announce testing service for Enteric Redmouth Disease (ERM) is now available to the aquaculture industry.
ERM is caused by bacteria Yersinia ruckeri. Among susceptible fish species include Salmon, Trout, Carp, Goldfish, Channel catfish, sturgeon and others.
We target Yersinia ruckeri using PCR method, which is highly sensitive and specific, suitable for screening and diagnostic testing.

Lupin Added to Mandatory Allergen Labelling List

Lupin is a legume which has the potential to be an allergen. Some people who are allergic to peanuts may also be allergic to it.
It may be found in products including baked goods (e.g. bread, pastries, pies), pasta or noodles, sauces, beverages and meat based products (e.g. burgers and sausages).
